Clinical Context
Used when providing anesthesia for pulmonary decortication, the removal of restrictive fibrous tissue from the visceral pleural surface. Indicated for organized empyema, trapped lung, or fibrothorax. Typically requires one-lung ventilation and may involve significant blood loss.
