Also known as: ESWL water bath anesthesia, lithotripsy water bath anesthesia
Anesthesia for lithotripsy using extracorporeal shock wave (ESWL) with water bath. Covers anesthesia for shock wave treatment of kidney or ureteral stones using the original immersion water bath lithotripter technology.
Clinical Context
Used when providing anesthesia for ESWL using first-generation lithotripters requiring water bath immersion (Dornier HM3). Requires general or regional anesthesia due to higher energy levels and immersion requirements. Now largely replaced by newer dry lithotripters (00873).
