Clinical Context

Used when providing anesthesia for transurethral resection of bladder tumors (TURBT), the primary diagnostic and therapeutic procedure for bladder cancer. Spinal anesthesia preferred to detect bladder perforation (patient reports shoulder pain). Risk of TUR syndrome with prolonged resection.
