Anesthesia for procedures on the male genitalia involving insertion of penile prosthesis. Covers general or spinal anesthesia for surgical implantation of inflatable or malleable penile prostheses for erectile dysfunction.

Clinical Context

Used when providing anesthesia for insertion of penile prostheses (inflatable or semi-rigid) for erectile dysfunction refractory to medical therapy. Strict sterile technique is critical as infection is the most devastating complication. May use spinal or general anesthesia.
