Clinical Context
Used when providing anesthesia for primary total hip arthroplasty for osteoarthritis, avascular necrosis, fracture, or inflammatory arthritis. Neuraxial anesthesia (spinal) with sedation is preferred by many centers due to reduced blood loss, improved pain control, and lower VTE risk. May also use general anesthesia.
