Anesthesia for procedures on the arteries of the upper leg involving femoral artery embolectomy. Covers general or regional anesthesia for surgical removal of an embolus or thrombus from the femoral artery.

Clinical Context

Used when providing anesthesia for femoral artery embolectomy or thrombectomy, typically using a Fogarty balloon catheter. An emergent procedure for acute limb ischemia. Requires rapid anesthesia with attention to underlying cardiac disease (embolus source) and limb reperfusion syndrome.
