Clinical Context
Used when providing anesthesia for total ankle arthroplasty for end-stage ankle arthritis. Alternative to ankle arthrodesis (fusion). Requires careful patient selection. Popliteal sciatic and saphenous nerve blocks provide excellent anesthesia and postoperative analgesia.
