Clinical Context
Used for placement of the receiver and pulse generator component of a retinal prosthesis system (e.g., Argus II). Indicated for severe outer retinal degeneration such as retinitis pigmentosa. The device converts visual input from an external camera into electrical stimulation of remaining retinal cells.
