Measurement of acid hemolysin, a test measuring lysis of red blood cells in acidified serum to assess for paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria and complement-mediated hemolysis.

Clinical Context

Screens for paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (acidified serum lysis of RBCs); largely replaced by flow cytometry for CD55/CD59 antigen detection.
