Reptilase test measures plasma fibrin clotting time after reptilase (snake venom thrombin-like enzyme) addition, assessing fibrinogen quality and thrombin function independent of Factor V.
Clinical Context
Used to evaluate fibrinogen function, diagnose dysfibrinogenemia, and differentiate fibrinogen defects from Factor V deficiency. Useful in assessing unexplained prolonged thrombin time.
