Serologic testing to detect antibodies against Toxoplasma gondii, an obligate intracellular parasite causing toxoplasmosis. Identifies exposure or acute infection.

Clinical Context

Used in pregnant women to screen for primary infection (risk of congenital transmission), immunocompromised patients at risk for reactivation, and central nervous system infection assessment in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.
