Serologic procedure to elute and recover red blood cell antibodies from cell surface. Used to identify antibodies in hemolytic disease and transfusion reactions.

Clinical Context

Used in hemolytic disease of newborn when maternal antibodies coat fetal red cells, or in transfusion reactions to identify offending antibodies on transfused cells.
