19307 Mast mod radiation
Also known as: modified radical mastectomy, MRM
Surgical removal of the breast and ipsilateral axillary lymph nodes with preservation of the pectoralis muscles. This modified radical approach provides lymph node staging while reducing morbidity.
Clinical Context
Standard surgical approach for breast cancer when total mastectomy with lymph node dissection is indicated. Provides adequate oncologic control while reducing postoperative disability.
