Sternal debridement. Surgical removal of necrotic, infected, or devitalized sternal tissue, typically for management of sternal wound infection or osteomyelitis.
Clinical Context
Used for post-operative sternal infections, osteomyelitis, or mediastinitis requiring debridement of devitalized tissue. Goal is removal of infected material while preserving remaining viable sternal structure.
