Partial removal (pericardiectomy) of the pericardium using a subxiphoid or thoracoscopic approach. Resection of pericardial tissue for constriction or disease.

Clinical Context

Used for constrictive pericarditis or thick pericardial thickening limiting cardiac filling. Subxiphoid approach is less invasive than thoracotomy.
