Percutaneous or transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt insertion, creating a communication between the hepatic vein and portal vein to reduce portal pressure.
Clinical Context
Indicated for refractory variceal bleeding, refractory ascites, and hepatic hydrothorax in patients with cirrhosis. Reduces portal pressure acutely.
