Proctocolectomy (removal of both rectum and colon) with or without ileostomy, used primarily for colorectal disease requiring total colonic and rectal resection.
Clinical Context
Indicated for familial adenomatous polyposis, ulcerative colitis with pan-colonic involvement, or colorectal cancer with extensive colon involvement.
