Thymectomy via sternotomy approach with radical dissection of thymic tissue and anterior mediastinum, including removal of associated lymph nodes and fat.
Clinical Context
Most extensive thymectomy approach with excellent visualization of anterior mediastinum. Used for thymoma, thymic carcinoma, or severe myasthenia gravis. Higher morbidity but best disease control.
