Surgical removal of the eye and surrounding orbital contents (evisceration). More extensive than enucleation, used primarily for malignancy or severe orbital disease.
Clinical Context
Indicated for intraocular malignancy with orbital involvement, severe orbital infection, or orbital trauma. More extensive than enucleation but preserves eye muscles when possible.
